Discipleship Through Gymnastics
Because of brain washing through the government schools and universities complicit with the government agenda; because of a constant barrage of lies through the mainstream and even alternative conservative media venues; because the professional clergy system has a vested interest in maintaining the status quo; Christians in general no longer trust their common sense. The new birth creates an organic experience of God internally that requires an ability for believers to trust their senses as they experience this internal relationship with God. The clergy system has taught, or implied, that both our heart and body are untrustworthy, taking scriptures out of context in the proof texting method to convince the congregation to trust what they are told instead of what they can see for themselves. Because gymnastics is a reality sport, in that athletes either really succeed or really get injured, the gymnastic student has to learn to trust his or her senses. As they become more proficient in mastering skills, their senses become sharpened. Consider what the author of Hebrews says: But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. (Heb 5:14 KJV) It is not by education that maturity comes to believers, but experience with the education applied. Note he says "sense exercised" to discern both good and evil. Gymnastics is not a religion nor is it promoted as a spiritual discipline by the USAG. So, why is The Stunt Gym calling its program, Christian discipleship through gymnastics? Because there have been some gymnasts (including myself before I knew Christ)) who saw the activity as a spiritual experience. Toby Towsen was an NCAA floor exercise champion who started a dance company in New York City called "Mussiwir," which was a spiritual expression of his through dance and gymnastics. Dan Milman was a trampoline champion who wrote a series of books on the"Peaceful Warrior" which saw gymnastics as a spiritual exercise. And for me, God used gymnastics to bring me to Him. Karate and Yoga see their physical activities as spiritual activities. This view has a long history with mankind. Even during the days of Greek myths, the physical experience of intercourse was considered a spiritual activity and the temple prostitutes were considered priestesses for their deity. However, their spiritual activity has been used by demonic spirits to lead them astray. But how could these demons deceive these students of Karate and Yoga or the pagans of the temple prostitutes? Because the body is directly connected to the human spirit and these activities make the practitioners sensitive to their human spirits through which the demons communicate. It is through our human spirits that the Holy Spirit communicates to us. Without sensitivity to one's human spirit, the believer will not know whether they are hearing God or a demon. Of course, this sensitivity to the Spirit is increased when believers study what the Bible has to say about the character of God and demons. But to study about God and demons alone is to only have an intellectual understanding which can't discern experientially. Once again, gymnastics has never been connected to spirituality by those who have formed the industry. In fact, they have striven to present the sport as a wholesome actitivity. At one time, Dial sponsored gymnastics competitions because they wanted the squeaky clean association of their soap with our clean sport. While the sport is not a spiritual activity, the spiritual connection to the body should not be dismissed. God did not create humans as disjointed beings. That is the result of sin and the fall of mankind. He created us as integrated beings whose body, soul, and spirit work together to create a whole. All three facets of our human nature interact with each other and God interacts with us as whole human beings. The body functions for the benefit of both the soul and the human spirit. The human spirit is often expressed through the body in contrast to the soul. For example, mixed messages are received when the mind of the soul says one thing, but the expression of the spirit through body language says another. Christians misunderstand the gospel. It is not going to heaven, although that will happen. It is not having a relationship with God, although we do. The gospel is extraordinary. The eternal God with no beginning nor end who spoke all creation into existence has joined His life to the man Jesus Christ, and that man in His glory has joined His life to all who receive Him in their hearts. Christianity is not a religion: it is biology. No other creatures in creation are joined to God. Therefore, the goal of gymnastics training at the Stunt Gym is to help kids learn to trust their senses in mastering stunts so they will trust their senses in hearing God. Most of the Lord's communication is intuitively discerned. The still small voice of scriptures is the subtle sense of His presence and communication of your intuition. A single gymnastics stunt only lasts 1 second. Depending on the stunt, up to 10 movements have to be performed in the right order and in the right time. That is not possible to consciously do, which is an activity of the mind, or soul. Neurons have to be trained for muscular reaction to respond, but the athlete learns to move intuitively. This reflex training increases the student's sensitivity to his or her intution, which is the voice of our spirits by which God communicates. |
