Stunt Gymnastics is a coed program. As a gymnastic discipline all students train skills |
Being HeldAll of us love to be hugged. There is nothing more natural than parents hugging their kids. Being held is a natural desire in everyone placed there by God. Anthropologists have studied this obvious, natural need to be held. Babies that are held by their mothers and the nurses in hospitals develop stronger security when born. Kids love to play with their parents in games that involving being held by them, which is why parents are always welcome to participate for free with their kids during the stunting time of the class. The place of touch in life is obvious in pets. Even animals want contact and touch from others - human owners and other pets.
Stunt Gymnastics is great fun for everyone because of it is a contact sport. Picking each other up, climbing on top of one another, and even the collapse of a stunt that harmlessly falls is delightful. Kids easily giggle and squirm, especially when picked up by a ticklish body part. Sometimes laughter can even get out of hand, and the coach must bring sobriety back to the class. Because the kids are holding each other, they need, and are instructed in understanding another person's space. There are comfort zones that everyone has. Some are comfortable with closeness and others are not. Little boys, in particular, like to jump unexpectedly upon other kids. This is not allowed. Partners have to be ready, even to brace their bodies for a catch. Each partner needs to respect the other partner's space, and approach the stunts with that awareness. This means, doing stunts requires a certain friendship and camaraderie to develop with partners for success in the stunts. While being held has many positive benefits, and is a great reason for being in the class, there is a caveat. Stunt Gymnastics contacts almost every part of the body, with the exception of the modest areas. However, some stunts come close to those modest areas, and can be a point of embarrassment. All students involved with the class are told and encouraged to maintain a professional attitude. While they are children and don't understand what that means, they are explained that every stunt should be regarded as only a stunt, and embarrassing proximities are to be ignored. |
