The Vision
Stunt Gymnastics is a coed program. As a gymnastic
discipline all students train skills
that develop strength and flexibility. The training
develops individual characteristics for the
body, soul and spirit:

Stunt Gymnastics for Body, Soul and
Spirit
Training for life
Alexander's
School of Acrobatics is not just about P.E. The program is
meant to develop young boys and girls into men and
women of God.
...exercise
yourself rather unto godliness. (1 Tim 4:7
KJV)
Stunt Gymnastics is a
means to an end, not an end unto itself. The means is
fun and interesting for the children to participate in,
and the ends are healthy adults in body, soul and
spirit.
... and I pray God
your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved
blameless (1 Thes 5:23 KJV).
Body
Stunt Gymnastics
trains as individuals and partners. The training
develops children into strong and flexible adults with
agility and hand-eye coordination.
-
Body Weight The program is not
a weight loss program. Proper dieting [we do not
provide that guidance], and exercises slims
bodies.
-
Endurance is sport specific.
Both aerobic and anaerobic conditioning is provided
to increase endurance.
-
Strength training emphasizes
the arms and abdomen. Because the children are
growing, tone is emphasized more than bulk, so as not
to interfere with their natural
development.
-
Flexibility training prevents
injury and increases the range of motion that the
body can move. Any child who trains in acrobatics
will be adept in adapting to any other
sport.
-
Balance A good sense of balance
is the foundation to body, hand and eye
coordination.
-
Agility and Coordination are
developed through spatial awareness. In acrobatic
stunting, spatial awareness begins with a good sense
of balance. First they must know who and what is
around them. Second they must know where their body
parts are. Confusion impedes agility and
coordination.
Soul
Acrobatic Stunting is
a thinking activity. The training is more to do with
the mind, than with the body. Success in the stunts
requires the students to think.
-
Mind - students have to think
about what their bodies are doing and where it is in
space. With partners, students need to think about
what their partners are doing. When they learn and
perform routines, they have to think about the
sequence of dance and stunts, the timing of the
music, and how to express themselves.
-
Will - True strength is in the
will. Acrobatic Stunting develops their will power.
Concentration, toughness to endure pain and
discomfort and courage to face the fear of injury is
an act of the will. "therefore have I set my face
like a flint." (Isa 50:7 KJV) A strong will is
needed to do that which is right.
-
Emotions - acrobatic stunts
demand a clear head, and controlled emotions. Self
control of the emotion of fear. Fear is good for it
brings caution. Panic, however, is a loss of self
control and can cause catastrophic injuries. In a
performance routines are to be expressive of people,
not just demonstrations of stunts. Students are
trained in emoting.
Spirit
Acrobatics develops spiritual growth in the
functions of the intuition, communion and conscience in
the students.
-
Intuition. When complex
movements are trained, their performances move from
the neurological to the intuitive. There is no time
to think in the brief moment one is airborne.
Athletes learn to move by their gut instincts which
is the work of intuition. Learning to be sensitive to
one's intuition is to be sensitive to one's
spirit.
-
Communion joins us with others
by the spirit. Communing with people is the path to
learning how to commune with God. Acrobatic Stunting
is a team sport, hence teaches students how to get
along
-
-
Trust and faith are
spouses. Confidence is their child. Self
confidence comes with the mastery of skills.
Trust and faith comes when partners prove their
concern for one another.
-
Forgiveness keeps the
partners together. Mistakes happen. Partners who
learn to forgive one another stay
together.
-
Cooperation is the heart of
partner stunts. It is team work. Stunts that are
hard for one person to do, become easier when
cooperating with another.
-
Commitment is dying in our
nation today. Success in the higher levels is in
the long term training. That means sticking it
out with a good partner. This is a life skill
that carries into marriage.
-
Conscience is more evident in
competition. Competition has two sides. One is
excellence. The other exalts the flesh with pride.
Students learn to do what is right.
In the End
When all is
said and done, every student and athlete will leave the
training. The strength and flexibility gained through
training will be the first thing to deteriorate. The
muscles will become soft and flabby, the joints will
become stiff, and the beauty will fade. But those
traits developed in the soul and spirit will remain,
and strengthen with time. Athletes will leave with a
confidence to face the challenges of life because they
overcame the challenges in acrobatics. Your children,
too, will walk stronger with the Lord because of the
acrobatic stunt training.
