Tent Making MinistriesI have known Jesus Christ since that fateful day of August 18, 1985, when I accepted His forgiveness for my sins, and was empowered with the baptism of His Holy Spirit. I came to Christ from a completely pagan background, and experienced a radical paradigm shift in studying the Bible and church history. It is my conclusion, that while ministry is allowed to be a business by the Lord, it is not His preference. Ministry should not be a business, but business should be ministry. The feelings of the Lord are clearly expressed in this regard by His throwing out the money changers in the temple, while crying, "My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves!" (Matt 21:13 KJV). It is also evident that His ministry, which only lasted three and a half years, was not conducted as a business. We know He was supported by voluntary contributions given by various women (Luke 8:2-3). The justification for making one's living by preaching the gospel is given by Paul (1 Cor 9), but it is noteworthy that even though Paul provides an argument for the ministry being a business (actually, to be supported by voluntary contributions), he himself supported himself by tent making (Acts 18:3) so as to not bring fault to the gospel. For this reason, I place my trust in God that by freely proclaiming my faith in Jesus Christ in this business, that God will honor that and prosper me. I personally believe that a day is coming when the government will shut down church businesses and persecute Christians. In this tent making ministry, then, I hope to develop a true Christian community for godly discipleship. |
![]() Alex has used stunting as a demonstration of being members of the body of Christ, as in this example at the Youth Rally for Corem Deo, Lakeview Community Church. With persecution a potential reality in the near future, I encourage everyone to pray about these two things: 1. Should your children be homeschooled? What ever you do for your family, be certain that it is the Lord's Will for your family. |
