About
Atlantic Coast Tumbling (A.C.T.) teaches acrobatics and gymnastics/cheer tumbling to cheerleaders, dancers, gymnasts and martial artists. It opened in February 2009, when Illya Demyanyuk bought Elite Cheer & Tumble's Newport News gym, and in May 2017 it purchased the Elite Cheer Sensations All-Star cheer squad.
School-age tumbling classes keep a 1:8 coach-to-student ratio and the Tiny Tumble program 1:6, with video and station work. Beginner tumbling for ages 6 and up covers handstands through running and standing back handsprings at $80 a month, followed by a back-handspring class and intermediate tumbling. A.C.T. also fields an acrobatic gymnastics team built on partner stunts, tumbling and dance.
