About
Philadelphia Gymnastics Academy in Wyndmoor is home to the Thunder Cats, a team that began at Water Tower Recreation Center; coach André, who formed that center's first USAG competitive team, has coached the Thunder Cats for over twenty years. The team competes in USAG and Xcel, and a twice-weekly Bronze team builds the skills needed to join.
Classes start with Parent/Child for walking age to 2.5 years (one parent per child) and basic gymnastics for ages 3–4.5, then Beginner and Advanced Beginner gymnastics and a Pre-Team class that readies intermediate and advanced gymnasts for competition. Tumbling serves ages 8–18 and Blue Ninja obstacle courses ages 4–18. Monthly open gyms are themed events for ages 5 and up.
